Joe Heaney leverages his previous general management, marketing, business development and operations experiences as an independent business professional specializing in consulting to and advising entrepreneurial companies and capital investors. Mr. Heaney is an alumni of Harvard Business School and Penn State University. Functional expertise & client experience range across the general management continuum and includes hands-on strategy & execution work in sales/business development, marketing, international partnerships, P&L management/assessment, capital raising & mergers/acquisitions. He has been involved with developing and executing growth strategies in such diverse industries as FMCG, recreational products, distribution and videoconferencing.
After rising through the sales and marketing ranks in corporate America with firms such as Nabisco, Joe joined a leading food broker managing principal relations with Ocean Spray, No Nonsense, Standard Brands and the Kingsford/Duraflame division of Clorox. He then joined a private label packer responsible for corporate sales at Safeway, Lucky, Albertsons, Southwest Airlines, United, Delta and a number of smaller airlines. Joe joined Cornnuts, Inc. where he transformed a small, vertically integrated family company. Rising from National Sales Manager to President he led the company through an aggressive expansion initiative in the ultra competitive food industry, growing revenues from $12mm to $80mm and profits from 6% of sales to 15% of sales prior to selling the company to Nabisco.
Joe then turned-around Kachina Boats, a struggling boat manufacturer, doubling sales in 1 year. After selling the company back to the original owner he became CEO of TransMag, an eco mobility start-up and co-founded ZZ Snacks, a snack food start-up attaining a revenue run rate of $3mm in less than a year.
Mr. Heaney then started a consulting firm and additional turnarounds followed:
- Watermiser – a manufacturer of water saving devices sold primarily to utility companies.
- MIZU Enterprises – a distribution and manufacturing company in the pool and spa industry.
- Baywood – a nutritional products company.
He is also a Chair with Vistage International, the world’s leading Chief Executive organization.
Joe has lectured on general management, marketing and entrepreneurship. He has served on the Boards of Directors for a number of for-profit, not-for-profit, and national trade associations.
